BIOGRAPHY Marlon Winedt studied in the States and in the Netherlands. He has a BA in Theology/Philosophy (University of Steubenville, OH 1985), a Drs. in Philosophy (University of Tilburg, 1988), a Post grad in Linguistics (2002) and a post-grad in Bible Translation (1996) from the Free University of Amsterdam . He obtained his PhD at the same university (1999) from the combined chair of theology/linguistics in Bible Translation. His dissertation was entitled: "A Relevance-theoretic Approach to The Translation of Discourse Markers in Luke: With Reference to the Greek Text of Luke." Marlon was a member of the Papiamentu Translation team, being the first translator of the NT from the Koine Greek and a reviser of parts of the OT (1989-1995). He co-authored a book on the prophet Micah with Edesio Sanchez and Esteban Voth. His research interests include: Biblical exegesis, hermeneutics, NT Greek, NT and OT socio-cultural analysis, Bible translation studies, Relevance Theory, Performance Criticism, Creole studies, Caribbean theology, theater, drama studies, and poetry. Marlon is a Global Translation Advisor with the United Bible Societies and has been involved in Bible translation for 30 years now. As a translation consultant and Global Translation Advisor, he worked alongside mother tongue translation teams in projects in French Guyana, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela, San Andres Island, Panama, Guatemala, and Curaçao, while helping to capacitate translators, church leaders and pastors across the Caribbean and the Americas region. Marlon has written different articles in English, Spanish and Dutch on academic topics related to exegesis and translation. He is married to Sandra Winedt; they have three children and live in Curaçao, where he is a pastor with the Assemblies of God Church. He hosted a radio program on faith and science for 4 years and writes a weekly column for La Prensa, a daily newspaper in Papiamentu, now defunct. He is an adjunct professor with Global University, Missouri, United States, a visiting professor with the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Paramaribo Suriname and the Baptist Seminary in Venezuela, and an external thesis advisor with the South African Theological Seminary in Rivonia South Africa and a thesis advisor and teacher for the Evangelical Seminar Suriname. https://share2uplift.org/influencer-marlon-winedt/
